Golf is all about image. We focused on how the ideal trajectory can be envisioned when players address the ball. From the moment they grip the club and then see the club head at the address it is easy for golfers to imagine the ideal trajectory. This is the Hold, Carry, Stay image that is required of wedge shots. S-Yard's design efforts to instill a perfect wedge shot have culminated.
High Center of Gravity
Our goal in creating the Bold Wedge was to give maximum backspin to the ball. In our effort to pursue increased spin performance, we attained a patented 21.5mm high center of gravity design (Japanese Patent No.4352461). The four milled holes in the sole of the club and the thicker-at-the-top blade
shape with strategically placed high-purity (with a specific gravity of 18) tungsten cores shift up to 25g of weight . This allows for an extraordinary high center of gravity (21.5mm), which is at a higher position than the radius of the ball. As a result, the clubhead contacts the ball solidly at the moment of impact without unnecessary movement which reduces the occurrence of spin reduction. The Bold Wedge boasts a 6.1% higher spin rate than our previous wedge.
Laser Milled Face
The pitch interval of the score lines has been narrowed as far as possible within the Rules to maximize spin performance, while the spin direction is stabilized through our precision laser milling process.
Original "S-shaped Sole"
Our "S-shaped sole" was designed to reduce unnecessary movement of the sole while taking advantage of the merits of bounce. This helps decrease (or lessen) head movement at impact and gives maximum backspin.
Non-plated S20C Mild Steel Forged Iron Material
Considered soft even amongst mild steels, the head is made from S20C steel (without the plating processing). This results in increased feel and touch.
Blackened Satin Finish
The subdued blackened satin finish of the head reduces glare at the address and allows full concentration on the shot without visual hindrance.
Original Steel Shaft
A dark chrome (DCR) finished original steel shaft by Shimada Golf MFG. has been selected to further reduce glare.
